Edwin Garcia focuses his practice on intellectual property. Before joining Jones Day, Edwin clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. During that time he gained vast experience at the trial and appellate levels, which he uses to craft effective arguments and offer practical insight.
Edwin has drafted case dispositive motions and appellate briefs before federal and state courts in addition to motions challenging discovery requests or seeking exclusion of experts in patent infringement cases. Edwin also gained experience working at IBM, where he assisted in drafting and negotiating software contracts and licensing agreements and advised business units on compliance.
While in law school, Edwin served as managing editor of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal and as a member of the interscholastic moot court and mock trial teams, earning a best brief award at the Annual Uvaldo Herrera Moot Court Competition. He also participated as a scholar in the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA)/Microsoft Intellectual Property Law Institute, an IP immersion program held in Washington, D.C.
Edwin continues to be an active member of the HNBA, having previously served on the committee of the annual moot court competition and on the editorial staff of the HNBA Journal of Law and Policy.
