Danny Johnson, a former law clerk to Justice Amy Coney Barrett, helps clients overcome their most difficult litigation challenges and regulatory obstacles. A member of Jones Day's nationally recognized Issues & Appeals Practice, Danny has substantial experience in high-stakes commercial disputes as well as novel administrative law and enforcement matters.

Danny has helped Jones Day clients and trial teams develop and implement winning litigation strategies. Danny has, for instance, helped a biotech company prevail at an infringement trial against an established competitor, developed a strategy for a corporation with significant legacy liabilities to challenge regulatory limits on its insurance recovery, and helped a public official test misconduct allegations. He has joined Jones Day trial teams to lead pivotal briefing, including motions to dismiss, oppositions to class certification, and post-trial motions. He has also helped trial teams mitigate — or take advantage of — appellate risks.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Danny represented a state government as a plaintiff in a complex and high-profile nuisance case, which — after a multiweek jury trial — resulted in a favorable settlement valued at more than $600 million. In addition to briefing critical issues, Danny has argued multiple motions and tried a case to verdict before a jury.

Danny serves as a guest lecturer in an annual writing seminar for engineering undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2023, he was selected as a Temple Bar Scholar by the American Inns of Court.
