Julie Shin is a former senior legal counsel at a multinational consumer electronics corporation in South Korea, where she managed intellectual property (IP) and technology transactions, including patent licensing and acquisitions from companies and prestigious research institutes and universities around the world, and led the company's IP team that focused on medical equipment and health care products.

In private practice, Julie has advised clients on numerous transactions, including multimillion- and multibillion-dollar acquisitions and investments by health care and venture capital companies. Julie has advised companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, chemical, consumer products, consumer electronics, semiconductor, and EV (electric vehicle) battery industries. With both in-house and outside counsel experience on a broad range of legal and business concerns, Julie is valued by clients as a trusted partner and is praised for her practical and business-savvy, results-driven approach.

Julie has substantial experience advising Korean and multinational companies, especially in cross-border IP litigation, IP transactions, and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2024, Julie handled patent litigations for multinational pharmaceutical companies involving blockbuster drugs, product liability litigations involving consumer products, and various other disputes, including trade secret and trademark litigations, arbitrations, and investigations. Another significant part of her practice involves IP transactions, including IP licensing and handling the IP aspects of joint ventures and M&A transactions.
