Organic Avenue defends against multi-plaintiff discrimination claims
Client(s) Organic Avenue LLC
Jones Day represented Organic Avenue LLC in defending two related discrimination actions by three former employees. The first case was a state court action in which a former employee of Organic Avenue alleged the company engaged in discrimination on the basis of his sexual orientation in violation of the New York City Human Rights Law. The second case was a federal court action in which the original Plaintiff and two other former employees additionally alleged that they were subject to discrimination on the basis of their race in violation of Section 1981 and the New York City Human Rights Law and subject to certain retaliation. On the basis of an initial fact investigation and certain targeted discovery, Jones Day was able to negotiate a mutually agreeable global settlement of both cases.
