Several Ohio communities support plans to improve stormwater-management program
Client(s) Village of Cuyahoga Heights, the Village of Moreland Hills, and Orange Village
Jones Day represented the Village of Cuyahoga Heights, the Village of Moreland Hills, and Orange Village in support of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District's stormwater-management program. The District's program charges a fee based on the amount of the impervious surface owned. The fee is to be used to update the storm water drainage and sewer systems in Northeast Ohio. Our clients are low elevation communities that experienced significant flooding whenever there was a hard rain. The District's plan to update the stormwater drainage and sewer system will save our clients and their residents significant dollars in clean up and property repair. The plan also prevents debris and other sediment runoff to Lake Erie. Challenging the district's plan were several high elevation communities, shopping mall owners and auto dealers with large surface lots.
