Health care professional defends against fraud and identity theft claims

Jones Day defended a former health care professional charged in an eight-count federal indictment alleging violations of health care fraud and aggravated identify theft in a multimillion dollar fraud scheme. Following a presentation to the DOJ, the government agreed to dismiss all but one fraud count. After pleading guilty to the count, the defense also successfully challenged the government's loss calculation, resulting in a significantly reduced range under the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
