Global defense contractor wins dismissal of lawsuits by former Saudi-Arabia based employee
Client(s) Global defense contractor
Jones Day secured dismissal of two lawsuits on behalf of a global defense contractor and one of its management employees that had been brought by a former manager in their Saudi Arabia branch office and that manager's wife. In those lawsuits, the plaintiffs alleged claims for breach of contract, fraudulent misrepresentation, and conversion, amongst other claims. Working as a coordinated team, Jones Day attorneys in the United States and Saudi Arabia developed a comprehensive legal strategy and sought dismissal on the grounds that the plaintiffs' claims were barred by the statute of limitations under the Labor Law of Saudi Arabia, and that the claims failed as a matter of law. The court in Virginia granted Jones Day's motions on both grounds and dismissed both of the lawsuits with prejudice.
