Sega acquires Rovio Entertainment

Jones Day advised Sega Corporation with the international aspects of the acquisition of Finland’s Rovio Entertainment (the creators of 'Angry Birds'). Jones Day advised on merger control and U.S. securities laws. Japan's Sega, the company behind Sonic the Hedgehog, purchased Rovio in a cash deal that values the creator of Angry Birds at $774 million.

Sega announced a voluntary recommended cash offer to the shareholders of Rovio Entertainment Corporation to tender all their shares in Rovio to Sega Europe for a cash consideration of €9.25 per share as well as an offer to the option holders under the Company's Stock Options 2022A plan to tender all their options for a cash consideration of €1.48 per option.
