Ted Powers represents private equity and other sponsors, acquirers, targets, and financial advisors in multibillion dollar global mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt investments, and joint ventures. He also advises management and boards of directors on strategic and governance matters. Ted's practice spans multiple industries, including technology, life sciences, energy, financial services, and industrials.
Ted has an increased focus on energy transition matters, including the role of hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. Ted currently represents TeraWatt Infrastructure in a variety of matters. Prior to joining Jones Day, Ted also represented TeraWatt in connection with investments by Vision Ridge Partners, Keyframe Capital, and Cyrus Capital Partners. He also represented Allianz Global Investors in its acquisition of the equity of a solar farm in Madera County, California and Complete Solar Holding Corporation in its merger with The Solaria Corporation, forming Complete Solaria, and subsequent business combination with Freedom Acquisition I Corp., a publicly traded SPAC.
Since joining Jones Day, Ted has represented Singapore Telecommunications in the sale of Trustwave, a cyber security and security services business, to The Chertoff Group.
In addition, he previously represented Atalaya Capital Management in the formation of a real estate joint venture with Seashine Capital; Polymer Modifier Partners in the sale of Techmer to SK Capital Partners and recapitalization by Gryphon Investors; and Aspen Insurance in its sale to Apollo Global Management.
Ted's experience also includes representing a company sourcing medical devices in an investment by an alternative investment manager; a private equity firm in a minority co-investment in and acquisitions and dispositions of financial services companies; and a total wellbeing platform in its acquisition of a SaaS (software as a service) wellbeing platform.
