Matt Sardo focuses on national security, international trade, and government contracting and procurement matters.
Matt has assisted clients navigate Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations related to Department of Defense (DOD) cyber security requirements; risk mitigation and business transactions related to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and anti-boycott laws; government bid protests in front of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Court of Federal Claims (COFC); and personnel and facility security clearance issues. Matt maintains an active pro bono practice assisting U.S. veterans obtain disability benefits.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Matt served in the U.S. Army. He enlisted in the Virginia National Guard as an infantryman, deployed to Afghanistan as a platoon leader with the 10th Mountain Division, Commanded a Special Forces Detachment in Northwest Africa, and was an Army ROTC instructor at the University of California, Berkeley.
