Elizabeth Burnside has broad experience in complex business and commercial litigation with a focus on antitrust and false advertising, class actions, and commercial disputes. She has represented clients at all stages of litigation, including pleading challenges, discovery, trial preparation and trial, and post-trial motions for relief. Her clients have included banks, aerospace companies, educational institutions, law firms, consumer electronics companies, medical groups, and hospitals.
Elizabeth's recent matters include securing a complete defense verdict for Sutter Health, a hospital system in Northern California, in an antitrust class action alleging tying and unlawful restraint of trade. Other recent matters include successfully defeating class certification in California state court in an action alleging false advertising claims over a video surveillance product and obtaining the complete dismissal of multiple actions in various jurisdictions brought against a foreign banking institution on the basis of controlling contractual forum selection clauses.
Elizabeth currently serves on the board of governors of the Los Angeles Association of Business Trial Lawyers and maintains an active pro bono practice. Through the Firm's Border Project she has obtained asylum in the United States for numerous clients from Cuba, Venezuela, and Guatemala. She is also active in providing support to domestic violence victims through the Firm's relationship with the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice.
