Rodrigo Gómez Ballina cuenta con más de 23 años de experiencia asesorando en todos los aspectos de la tributación federal e internacional mexicana, incluyendo los aspectos fiscales relacionados con transacciones de fusiones y adquisiciones, reestructuraciones y licencias de propiedad intelectual. También asesora a clientes en la defensa de disputas fiscales, incluyendo auditorías fiscales, apelaciones y procesos de liquidación. Varios de los casos que ha manejado constituyeron jurisprudencia emitida por la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación. Rodrigo es socio director de la oficina de la Ciudad de México.

El enfoque principal de Rodrigo está en los aspectos locales mexicanos de la tributación transfronteriza, y frecuentemente trabaja con subsidiarias mexicanas de clientes extranjeros en relación con sus inversiones en México. También asesora a clientes de capital privado, inversionistas soberanos y fondos para estructurar sus inversiones de la manera más eficiente desde el punto de vista fiscal.

Algunos de sus encargos representativos incluyen la asesoría a NII Holdings en todos los aspectos fiscales mexicanos en relación con la venta de sus operaciones mexicanas administradas por su subsidiaria indirecta, Nextel de México, S.A. de C.V., a AT&T por $1,875 millones de dólares, menos la deuda neta pendiente del negocio al cierre.

Rodrigo ha publicado diversos artículos en revistas fiscales en México y en el extranjero. Es autor de dos capítulos sobre temas fiscales internacionales en dos libros, ambos publicados en Austria. Es miembro de la International Fiscal Association y de la American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico y ha participado en su comisión fiscal.
