Ed Howell represents clients in complex commercial litigation and in civil and criminal enforcement actions. His practice includes prosecuting and defending claims involving breach of contract, consumer credit, business and other torts, California's Unfair Competition Law (UCL) and other state consumer protection statutes, and the False Claims Act (FCA).
Ed assists clients in many different industries, including health care, consumer reporting, manufacturing, and retail. He has experience in all stages of litigation, including discovery, pretrial motion practice, trial, and appeals, and in federal and state courts and before domestic and international arbitration panels. Ed also has experience counseling clients regarding attorney-client privilege and attorney work product issues and defending privilege in state and federal courts.
Ed maintains an active pro bono practice and was awarded the State Bar of California Wiley W. Manuel Award for his work representing clients in guardianship proceedings. He is a member of the Welsh Inn of Court.
