Ann-Marie Woods represents and advises clients in complex litigation matters. Ann-Marie's practice involves a wide range of class and representative actions, high-profile single and multiplaintiff disputes, and arbitration proceedings, as well as sensitive internal and government investigations. Her experience includes federal and state wage-hour litigation, including California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions, discrimination and harassment class actions, whistleblower and retaliation cases, False Claims Act investigations and litigation, and restrictive covenant matters, in addition to breach of contract, negligence, and defamation actions. Ann-Marie also frequently counsels clients regarding sensitive employment and corporate compliance matters.
Ann-Marie has significant trial experience. She recently second-chaired a six-day federal jury trial, securing a complete defense verdict for Jones Day's client in a whistleblower case alleging wrongful termination for reporting alleged regulatory violations. Ann-Marie previously second-chaired a five-day federal jury trial involving a former employee's sexual harassment and defamation claims, which resulted in a full defense verdict in favor of Jones Day's client. She also served on the trial team representing a national fast food franchisor in the company's joint employer litigation before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Ann-Marie maintains an active pro bono practice that includes participating in the Firm's Border Project, representing individuals in asylum proceedings and working on the ground in the Laredo, Texas detention facility counseling individuals seeking asylum in the United States. She also has worked with the Lawyers' Committee for Better Housing (LCBH) as an advocate for tenants facing eviction.
