Simon Brown has more than 25 years of experience advising on complex M&A transactions, corporate structuring, and private equity transactions throughout Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region, representing prominent corporations in the oil and gas, mining and resources, renewable energy, technology, and infrastructure areas. Simon regularly advises on joint ventures and on equity capital markets transactions. He also has advised on major development projects and has drafted and negotiated operating, sales and marketing, and royalty agreements.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Simon was a senior partner at a leading international law firm and advised on: the multibillion dollar acquisition of a majority stake holding in a gold and copper mine from a global resources company; the establishment of a renewable energy development platform in Southeast Asia and on the related acquisitions; the reorganization of Australian-based solar farm projects as part of a client's global spin-off; the divestment of a client's oil and gas interests in Indonesia; the proposed spin-off and IPO of a client's mineral business in Papua New Guinea (PNG); and on a joint venture for carbon offset projects. He also advised on multiple investments in various other areas, including the wealth management/financial technology sector.

Simon has worked in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia and has been consistently recognized as a leading lawyer in legal directories for the last 15 years.
