Thomas Conerty advises and represents corporate policyholders in domestic and international insurance recovery disputes.

Thomas has significant experience litigating and arbitrating claims arising under standard commercial general liability insurance policies, professional indemnity policies, pollution liability policies, and the Bermuda form (excess liability insurance). He has worked on multiple London arbitrations, where his work spans drafting briefs on dispositive legal and fact questions such as insurance coverage terms and allocation, developing facts, overseeing e-discovery, and preparing corporate, fact, and expert witnesses for trial.

Thomas's litigation practice has also included representing one of the nation's largest insurers in litigation involving the secondary payer provisions in federal Medicare statutes and regulations. Thomas also has experience in toxic tort litigation — in which he has drafted successful appellate- and trial-level briefing — class actions, the federal False Claims Act, contract disputes, and business torts.

Thomas maintains a pro bono practice in cases involving religious liberty claims.

Before joining Jones Day, Thomas clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
