Thomas Conerty advises and represents corporate policyholders in domestic and international insurance recovery disputes.

Thomas has significant experience litigating and arbitrating claims arising under standard commercial general liability insurance policies and the Bermuda form (excess liability insurance). His experience also includes representing one of the nation's largest insurers in litigation involving the secondary payer provisions in federal Medicare statutes and regulations. Additionally, Thomas's practice experience includes toxic tort litigation — in which he has drafted successful appellate- and trial-level briefing — class actions, the federal False Claims Act, contract disputes, and business torts.

Thomas has significant experience in drafting briefing on dispositive legal and fact questions, including insurance coverage terms and allocation. He also has experience in fact development and managing discovery, including coordinating e-discovery, preparing corporate and fact witnesses for depositions and trial, and second chairing depositions. Thomas has successfully argued discovery disputes in federal court.

Thomas maintains a pro bono practice in cases involving religious liberty claims.

Before joining Jones Day, Thomas clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
