Trained in civil law and common law, Cassien Hugot focuses his practice on international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and arbitration-related proceedings before French courts, as well as on mediation.

Cassien has acted in arbitration proceedings conducted under the auspices of various arbitral institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and the Chambre Arbitrale Internationale de Paris (CAIP). He has particular experience advising and representing companies and states in the energy, construction, telecommunications, defense, and luxury sectors in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Cassien is currently advising a major oil and gas company in a dispute arising from an Italian-law governed EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract. Conversely, Cassien is representing international contractors in arbitration proceedings, including a dispute regarding the wrongful termination of a Macedonian-law governed EPC contract and proceedings regarding an EPC contract for the construction of harbor infrastructure in Morocco. He is also representing a consulting company in ICC arbitration proceedings concerning wrongful termination of a construction contract in Algeria.

Cassien recently represented a major international beauty company in a post-acquisition dispute involving complex issues of law and damages.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Cassien undertook internships with several international law firms in London, Paris, and Munich.
