Katie Hickey serves clients in the health care industry on a broad array of legal matters including regulatory compliance, litigation, strategic transactions, and tax exemption. She represents hospitals, health systems, clinical lab networks, hospice providers, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and digital health and health technology companies.
Katie's experience includes counseling clients on regulatory and compliance issues including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, corporate governance, and federal tax exemption. In addition, Katie represents clients in investigations and litigation relating to the False Claims Act (FCA), the federal Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), the Stark Law, and similar fraud and abuse laws. She also advises a range of health care clients on strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2022, Katie served two clerkships at the U.S. Court of Appeals, with Judge Richard Sullivan in the Second Circuit and with Judge Charles Wilson in the Eleventh Circuit.
Katie is currently a vice chair of the American Health Law Association's Tax & Finance Committee and serves on the Ambassadors Board for Legal Aid Chicago.
