With more than 10 years of experience, Eileen Lagathu has gained significant exposure in all aspects of EU and French competition law, from merger control to State aid and cartel investigations by the European Commission or the French Competition Authority. She has represented clients in numerous litigation proceedings before the General Court, the European Court of Justice, and the Paris Court of Appeal in landmark cases that have contributed to shaping the case law on fines.
She assists clients daily with their commercial agreements, including R&D and exclusivity arrangements, and, more generally, in structuring their distribution networks. She also assists clients in establishing compliance measures.
Eileen regularly advises global corporations on the merger control aspects of their transactions (asset or share deals, joint venture creations) as well. She regularly works on notifications to the European Commission or the French Competition Authority and coordinates multijurisdictional filings.
Eileen's experience representing clients in the energy, pharmaceutical, banking, and financial sectors has given her an in-depth understanding of these industries.
Eileen is particularly knowledgeable on the subject of fines and since 2013 has been coauthor of the yearly survey on the Law on Fines Imposed in EU Competition Proceedings, published by JECLAP (Oxford academic).
