Hiromitsu Miyakawa has more than 20 years of experience in antitrust and competition matters and has served as defense counsel in major cartel prosecutions by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC). His practice covers government investigations, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and other counseling and compliance advice. He also focuses on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) compliance issues and helps companies to establish, enhance, and maintain effective compliance programs. He is Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Tokyo Office.

In addition, Hiromitsu has spoken and served as a member of study groups at Japanese governmental organizations, including JFTC; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI); and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). He also has been serving as a nongovernmental advisor (NGA) for the International Competition Network (ICN).

Before joining Jones Day in 2006, Hiromitsu worked for 10 years with one of the leading law firms in Japanese antitrust law.
