Jordan Matthews is an experienced trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor. She helps clients navigate their toughest internal and government investigations and high-stakes civil and criminal litigation. Jordan regularly handles investigations involving allegations of fraud, foreign and domestic corruption, and harassment. She also represents clients in class actions and complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, consumer fraud, and mass torts.
Jordan has conducted investigations for and defended industry-leading companies and other entities. Currently, Jordan represents the City of Minneapolis in connection with the Department of Justice's (DOJ) investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Jordan was an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago for nearly seven years, most recently serving in the National Security and Cybercrime Section. During Jordan's time as a federal prosecutor, she tried numerous cases to verdict, regularly appeared before the grand jury, and led hundreds of investigations related to national security, espionage, trade secret, cybercrime, extortion, RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations), civil rights, financial fraud, and tax offenses, among others.
Jordan is on the Board of After School Matters, Legal Action Chicago, and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She also co-chairs the Chicago Chapter of the Women's White Collar Defense Association and is an active member of the Black Women Lawyers' Association of Greater Chicago.
Jordan is a member of Jones Day's Firmwide Diversity Committee, co-leads Jones Day's Hate Crimes Task Force, and was the Firm's 2022 Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow.
