Alexander Vakalopoulos focuses his practice on domestic and international M&A for public and private companies, private equity transactions, general corporate governance issues, formation and structuring of business entities, and corporate litigation matters.
Alexander provides advice on strategic choices in a merger or acquisition process, with a main focus on restructuring in anticipation of a merger or acquisition (pre-deal restructuring), drafting and negotiating transaction documents, performing legal due diligence, and implementing legal structures (post-deal integration).
Some of Alexander's recent experience includes: representing Avient in the acquisition of the DSM protective materials business for US$1.485 billion; Bio Energy Coevorden in the sale of 80% of its shares to VARO Energy; Lamb Weston in the acquisition of the remaining interest in the European joint venture Lamb-Weston/Meijer for €700 million; LyondellBasell in the acquisition of a 50% stake in Rodepa Vastgoed B.V.; SHV Energy N.V. in the auction sale of Primagaz Nederland to DCC Energy; and assisting SHV Energy N.V. in the formation of a joint venture with UGI Corporation to advance the production and use of renewable dimethyl ether (rDME).
Alexander also has been seconded to SHV Energy N.V. as legal counsel, gaining extensive experience by being directly involved with all legal matters pertaining to its business.
