Chris Arnold has more than 20 years of experience advising the world's leading investment banks, financial institutions, end users, trustees, service providers, and industry groups on complex cross-border transactions, regulatory issues, and disputes in structured finance, derivatives, and capital markets.
Chris's transactional practice covers OTC (over-the-counter) and exchange-traded derivatives, repos, securities lending, margin loans, structured products, and other risk transfer linked to rates, currencies, corporate and sovereign credit, equities, commodities, funds, insurance risks, strategic indices, digital assets, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) goals. He also has advised on UK, European, and U.S. regulation of derivatives markets and legal risk management, including distressed situations and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2024, Chris represented ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) and the derivatives industry on numerous documentation, advocacy, reform, and opinions projects, including in relation to credit derivatives, sanctions, market-wide protocols, and international financial institutions.
Chris has worked at leading law firms in London and in New York City, is a regular speaker on derivatives documentation and regulation at conferences around the world, and is a member of the Panel of Recognised International Market Experts in Finance (P.R.I.M.E. Finance).
