Seth Engel, a member of the New York and Paris Bars, focuses his practice on capital markets and ESG (environmental, social, and governance). He advises clients on complex cross-border transactions, securities offerings, and financings throughout the world. Having practiced in France and in New York, he works hand in hand with European and U.S. public and private companies to advise on strategic equity and debt transactions. Seth also has in-depth experience advising on disclosure obligations, strategic governance issues, and the various liability regimes under ESG rules, in particular the interaction between the European Union CSRD/CS3D (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive/Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive) and U.S. law.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Seth taught law at the Sorbonne in Paris and acted as assistant counsel in multiple pretrial cases at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
