Alex Murphy is a trial lawyer with experience in more than 10 jury trials in high-risk cases tried to verdict throughout the country. He has been a member of numerous trial teams that have secured complete defense verdicts. Alex's practice focuses on product liability, mass tort, and commercial litigation.
Alex has been involved in Jones Day's nationwide defense of the Engle progeny smoking and health lawsuits brought against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He has experience in many aspects of discovery and trial preparation, including taking expert and fact witness depositions, consulting with and preparing expert witnesses, and managing discovery from the date of filing onward. Alex has also developed experience in many other aspects of complex commercial litigation, including conducting legal research, drafting motions and response briefs, and post-trial briefing.
Alex maintains an active pro bono practice. As part of Jones Day's Border Project, he has drafted briefs for clients seeking asylum. In his work with the Georgia Justice Project, Alex has represented multiple clients across Georgia in successfully restricting and sealing their criminal records.
