Michael Basist counsels public and private borrowers, private equity sponsors, and lenders in transactional and commercial financing-related matters, including the financing aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and other business combinations. His experience includes first lien/second lien facilities, acquisition financings, revolving credit facilities, term loans, direct lending, and syndicated lending transactions.
Michael's recent representations prior to joining Jones Day in 2024 include a public midstream company in a multibillion dollar credit agreement and extensions of maturity; a private equity sponsor-backed pipeline company in matters related to a $1 billion credit facility; a chemicals company in a $100 million equipment sale-leaseback; a private equity sponsor in a $450 million secured term loan for a telecommunications infrastructure business; a public waste company in a multibillion dollar credit agreement; and a private, direct lender in a revolving and term loan facility.
