Nia Imon Ballard represents clients in complex commercial litigation before federal and state courts, including claims arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Nia has experience conducting and responding to written discovery, preparing witnesses for trial, drafting various motions and mediation statements, and successfully negotiating favorable settlements for Firm clients.
Nia has represented clients with federal agency enforcement investigations and actions, internal investigations, and regulatory compliance counseling involving the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission), regulated derivative exchanges, the NFA (National Futures Association), FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), state public utility commissions (PUCs), and RTO (Regional Transmission Organization) market monitors.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Nia was an appellate attorney with the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims Litigation Group of the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel. In that role, Nia was lead counsel of record for approximately 300 appeals brought before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Nia maintains an active pro bono practice that includes representing individuals seeking asylum in the United States. She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
