Sébastien Champagne heads the Firm's Global Disputes team in Brussels and focuses on domestic and cross-border litigation related to commercial, trade practice, product liability, regulatory, competition, and private disputes. He is the administrative partner for the Brussels Office.
Sébastien regularly represents and advises major national and international corporations in pretrial negotiations and in litigation before judicial and administrative courts. His clients are active in various sectors, including the telecom, engineering and supply of industrial equipment, IT, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries. Notably, he assisted telecoms operator, Base Company, in successfully resolving its abuse of dominance complaint against Belgium's incumbent operator, reaching a landmark settlement in 2015 for a total of €120 million in the wake of a favorable judgment issued by the Brussels Court of Appeal in February 2015.
He is also a member of Jones Day's Investigations & White Collar Defense Practice. He advises clients in internal compliance and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)-related investigations.
Sébastien is also experienced in the drafting and negotiation of commercial and telecom-related agreements.
Sébastien serves as a deputy judge at the Commercial Court of Brussels. He also serves as both arbitrator and counsel for international arbitration bodies. In addition, Sébastien is a lecturer for the Brussels Bar in the field of civil procedure.
