An Doan's practice focuses on complex strategic transactions involving the development, use, and transfer of intellectual property. She works closely with companies at all stages to structure, negotiate, and execute technology transactions and to find compatible solutions to intellectual property disputes. An advises clients on the intellectual property aspects of domestic and cross-border corporate transactions (e.g., mergers, sales, acquisitions, spin-offs, financings, and investments) involving technology assets. An has guided clients through transactions in a diverse range of industries, with emphasis on computer hardware and software, semiconductors, consumer devices, education, and energy.
An also represents clients in patent litigations and post-grant proceedings. Leveraging her technical background in electrical engineering, An has successfully represented companies in patent cases relating to a variety of technologies, including semiconductor circuitry, fabrication, and packaging, GPS, display systems, image and video compression, signal processing, and smart cards. In addition, An counsels clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including development and protection of intellectual property, analysis of patent portfolios, and freedom-to-operate opinions.
An serves on the Advisory Board of the Asian Law Alliance, a nonprofit organization providing equal access to the justice system for Asian Pacific Islander and low-income populations in Silicon Valley.
