With over 30 years of experience in class actions, multijurisdictional matters, national arbitration programs, and complex commercial litigation, Jeff Jones is a trial lawyer who has defended clients against damage claims of $1 billion or more. Jeff has tried over 40 cases to courts, juries, arbitration panels, and administrative judges and boards in different jurisdictions throughout the United States and has handled appellate proceedings through every level of state and federal courts. Jeff has also coordinated the defense of over 1,000 arbitrations, many of which proceeded to trial. Jeff has litigated in more than 35 states throughout the United States and served as national or regional coordinating counsel in matters involving securities claims, automotive and supplier disputes, franchise and distribution litigation, contract terminations, alleged product defects, employment disputes, and class actions filed against many of Jones Day's clients.
In addition, Jeff has coordinated numerous internal company investigations for clients of the Firm, including investigations related to accounting matters, revenue recognition, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and anticorruption issues, and has assisted with training and compliance efforts arising out of these investigations. Jeff has taken and defended hundreds of depositions involving experts working in the fields of accounting, valuations, marketing, statistics, disease causation, epidemiology, toxicology, accident reconstruction, automotive design, mechanical engineering, biomechanics, and human factors.
Jeff is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and was a member of the American Inns of Court, where he made written and oral presentations on trial issues. He also has spoken or written on numerous litigation topics for CLE seminars, including "Proving Causation in Toxic Tort Litigation" and "Defending Punitive Damage Claims."
