Meritt Salathe counsels clients on brand development, enforcement, and defense and manages global and domestic trademark portfolios in diverse industries, including consumer products and open-source and free-knowledge products and services.

Her practice includes trademark, trade secret, copyright, and false advertising litigation; domestic and international trademark prosecution; and trademark opposition and cancellation actions before the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

Meritt works closely with local counsel throughout the world to police and protect clients' intellectual property rights. She has helped companies and nonprofits proactively avoid litigation by conducting trademark clearance searches, developing policies for the use of third-party trademarks and copyrighted material, and facilitating successful consent agreements between trademark applicants and owners of existing trademark registrations.

Meritt's active pro bono practice includes representing clients facing eviction in housing court and assisting nonprofit organizations with the trademark prosecution process. In addition, she has participated in the Firm's Border Project by providing on-the-ground legal support to migrants seeking asylum in detention facilities in Laredo, Texas.
