Roberto Torres joins Jones Day's Government Regulation Practice as counsel in Mexico City
Roberto Torres has joined the Firm as counsel in the Government Regulation Practice. He will be based in the Mexico City Office.
Mr. Torres has 25 years of experience practicing administrative, regulatory, energy, and environmental law in Mexico. He has advised clients on real estate, infrastructure, industrial, and tourism projects throughout Latin America, including the processing and administration of government permits, licenses, and concessions. Mr. Torres has also played a key role in the drafting of federal and local environmental regulations.

Mr. Torres joins the Firm's global Government Regulation Practice, where he will work alongside his colleagues in Latin America and around the world to counsel clients on administrative and agency litigation, government contracts, government inquiries, international trade, national security, product regulatory, and other commercial matters.

Mr. Torres earned his law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City, and a master's degree in environmental policy and management from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. He has also earned diplomas in environmental law and natural resources, real estate and tourism, and energy law.

Mr. Torres was recently approved by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association as one of Latin America's top private practitioners. He is also recognized as a ranked lawyer in the Latin America guides published by Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500, and has taught environmental law as a professor at Escuela Libre de Derecho for the last seven years.
