HCA's West Hills Hospital and other hospital defendants win affirmance of summary judgment in Southern California nurse wage antitrust class action
Client(s) HCA, Inc.
Jones Day obtained summary judgment, upheld on appeal, on behalf of HCA affiliate West Hills Hospital in an antitrust class action alleging that hospitals conspired to depress nurse wages throughout Southern California in violation of the Cartwright Act.
After two and a half years of litigation, the trial court granted summary judgment to Defendants, ruling that Plaintiffs had failed to identify any evidence of an illicit agreement to depress wages. The appellate court upheld this ruling in a decision issued on November 16, 2010.
