Mike Shumaker has more than 30 years of experience in commercial litigation, focusing his practice on antitrust, corporate fraud, RICO, class action defense, and U.S. trade and customs investigations. He is commonly tasked with the day-to-day management of complex, often joint defense, litigation matters. Mike is also the Firm Administrative Partner with responsibility for the Firm's administrative functions across all Jones Day offices worldwide.
Significant matters in which Mike has played a central role in the representation include the successful defense of IBM Corporation against RICO claims brought by a disgruntled former business partner, the government challenged acquisition of GE Appliance by Electrolux, the prosecution of retailers and wholesalers for fraudulently abusing the cigarette marketing programs of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and the defense of alleged tire-caused rollovers for Bridgestone Firestone. Mike is currently serving as co-lead counsel to Sanofi in the myriad of cases filed in federal and state courts related to insulin pricing.
