Jay Blackman has more than 15 years of experience representing issuers, sponsors, boards, and management teams in complex commercial transactions. Jay's practice focuses on the private equity and energy industries, and he regularly represents clients in connection with capital raising activities, strategic transactions, exit events and other divestitures, and joint ventures.
Jay also frequently counsels clients on matters involving mergers and acquisitions (including leveraged/financed acquisitions), equity offerings and other financings, equity purchases and co-investments, formations of (and investments in) private investment funds, sponsor-backed management teams, and transactions involving clients, companies, projects, and assets around the world. He also frequently represents venture capital investors and emerging companies in financing transactions and related matters.
Jay is active in his community in Houston, having served on boards dedicated to education and community welfare. He regularly speaks on trends in the energy industry, in particular issues affecting private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.
