Marielle Coutrix focuses on regulatory, compliance, and civil litigation matters in the health care industry. She counsels and represents health systems, provider networks, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and digital health companies.
Marielle has helped clients navigate investigations and litigation involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and similar state laws. She recently helped secure a full defense verdict in Pikeville, Kentucky, defeating a multibillion dollar fraud claim over off-label prescriptions.
Marielle also advises clients in the digital health, food and drug, and transplantation space on regulatory issues associated with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, Food & Drug Administration (FDA) compliance, medical licensure, and corporate governance. She also supports clients engaged in M&A and other strategic transactions, including physician practice acquisitions and private equity investments.
Marielle maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in child support and immigration matters.
Marielle previously worked in grantmaking in reproductive and sexual health and, while in law school, also served as the managing notes editor for the Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law.
