Po-Chien Chen's practice focuses on complex cross-border litigation involving multijurisdictional disputes, and his clients include financial institutions, technology companies, energy companies, large manufacturers, and distributors. He has successfully represented litigations between financial institutions, including a foreign investment bank in an international syndication litigation involving a number of banks in Taiwan to secure a favorable judgment. He also successfully represented a foreign private bank in blocking the enforcement of a Taiwan arbitration award in Singapore and Hong Kong, which is the first case regarding such a claim in Taiwan's arbitration history.
Po-Chien regularly advises on disputes involving technology companies that includes a variety of cases over the disclosure or theft of trade secret of companies in China, the United States, Taiwan, and Europe, and he has extensive experience in legal strategy, cross-border discovery, and litigation. He currently handles several cross-border financial fraud and money laundering cases with his colleagues in other offices of Jones Day and assists investors and their families in freezing and recovering overseas assets.
Armed with master's degrees in law and business, Po-Chien can identify and examine issues from the perspectives of legal counsel, a company's legal compliance department, management, and shareholders and assist in finding feasible solutions that balance the rights and responsibilities of all parties. Po-Chien has been with Jones Day for more than 17 years. He is currently based in the Firm's Shanghai and Taipei offices.
