Micah Doak is dedicated to Jones Day's Border Project, which provides access to the rule of law, legal information, and legal representation to individuals seeking asylum or other related forms of protection. The Border Project was initiated to provide access to the rule of law for women in immigration detention in Laredo, Texas. The project currently focuses on assisting migrants, including families with children, who are seeking asylum in the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley area.

Micah assists in managing on-the-ground operations in Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley, including the weekly teams of volunteers who help screen and provide legal information to migrants. Micah also supports, manages, and mentors the remote Jones Day teams of lawyers representing migrants in their immigration proceedings. She has also provided pro bono representation to a number of individuals seeking immigration relief and served as lead counsel in several asylum merits hearings, securing asylum for five clients.

Prior to joining the Border Project full time, Micah was an associate in the Firm's Labor & Employment Practice. She also served as a volunteer prosecutor for the City of Houston and helped lead Pathways to Law, a program in which Jones Day lawyers teach law-related courses in Houston Independent School District (HISD) schools. Before joining Jones Day, Micah taught high school humanities and special education in Boston through Teach For America.
