Simon Hansen has tried high-stakes jury and bench trials in federal and state courts throughout the country. He has been a trial team member in more than 20 cases tried to verdict, including numerous trial teams that have secured a complete defense verdict. Simon's practice focuses on product liability, mass tort, and commercial litigation, and he also represents U.S. taxpayers facing litigation in the United States Tax Court.
Simon is involved in every stage of litigation. As trial counsel, he has conducted cross-examinations of fact witnesses and professional expert witnesses in scientific, medical, and economic fields. He is also experienced in preparing cases for trial: he routinely takes and defends expert and fact witness depositions, briefs and argues motions, develops and prepares expert witnesses, and manages critical factual development and discovery efforts.
Simon maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented multiple clients seeking asylum. Before joining Jones Day, Simon taught middle school math and science at an alternative school in Mississippi through Teach For America.
