Hugo Munsey has close to 10 years of experience working in structured finance. His career has focused on advising the world's leading investment banks, both as a private practice lawyer and as an in-house lawyer having spent more than three years working in the markets trading division at JPMorgan as a senior counsel on the structured products legal team and having completed two separate secondments to the fixed income legal team at UBS.

Hugo's practice covers all areas of structured finance, primarily in the derivatives and structured products space, and he regularly advises investment banks on the full range of OTC (over-the-counter) structured derivatives, ranging from total return swap transactions and credit default swaps to all forms of collateralized and secured lending, including margin loan transactions. Hugo also regularly advises investment banks on their structured repurchase transactions primarily involving structured credit trades.

In addition, Hugo has experience advising banks and investors on synthetic risk transfer products and synthetic securitizations, including credit-linked note issuances and bilateral financial guarantees, including insurance-based products, and advising banks on both on-balance sheet structured note issuances and structured note programmes and on off-balance sheet SPV (special purpose vehicle) secured note programmes and repackaging transactions.

Hugo also advises hedge providers and hedge counterparties on securitization and deal contingent FX (foreign exchange) hedging transactions having recently advised one of the largest U.S. global investment banks on a series of deal contingent FX hedging transactions as part of the Jones Day team appointed as leading deal contingent hedging counsel.
