Sophie Macleod works with a range of clients on energy and resources legal matters. She has experience in supply agreements, commodity sales contracts, regulatory matters (particularly the regulation of gas pipelines in Western Australia and Queensland), project development and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), and LNG (liquified natural gas) contracts.
With a background in commercial litigation, Sophie is well placed to advise energy and resources clients on avoiding potential, and navigating existing, disputes. Sophie's recent experience includes drafting and advising on commodity sales contracts in relation to sales to Japan, Korea, China, and India and acting in a high-value LNG pipeline construction dispute on behalf of a global engineering and construction firm in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Sophie served as associate to the now retired Honourable Justice James Douglas of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2019 and the Honourable Justice Ann Lyons, Senior Judge Administrator of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2020. Sophie coauthored a guide to civil litigation in the District Court of Queensland, which was published by LexisNexis in 2021.
