Anika Smith represents clients in complex civil litigation and government investigation matters. Her experience includes drafting appellate and trial briefs and motions, offensive and defensive discovery, fact investigation, managing expert witnesses, and legal research.

Anika's litigation experience includes defending private equity firms in cases raising complex jurisdictional and discovery-related questions. She also represents companies in a wide array of contract claims in federal and state courts.

Anika's government investigation experience includes assisting companies with responding to civil investigative demands issued by federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2022, Anika served as a law clerk to Judge S. Kyle Duncan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Judge Paul B. Matey of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. While in law school, Anika worked as a research assistant to Professor Mark Rienzi and assisted in the Religious Liberty Center. Before law school, Anika worked on publications at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and as a policy analyst at the Discovery Institute.
