Daniel Sloan practices intellectual property law and has experience in drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation. In early 2024, Daniel was part of a team that went to trial in a Hatch-Waxman proceeding representing a brand name pharmaceutical company.
Daniel maintains an active pro bono practice, assisting with the Firm's Border Project, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), and HER Justice cases. In addition to providing general assistance to asylum seekers fleeing violence in their home countries, Daniel has been part of a trial team for a client requesting relief under the Convention Against Torture.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Daniel clerked for Justice Melissa Standridge at the Kansas Supreme Court for 18 months. During law school, he was an intern at the Federal District Court for the District of Kansas. He spent one semester with the Clerk of the Court and two semesters with then-Chief Judge, Julie A. Robinson. Daniel uses his experience at the trial and appellate levels to help think of creative procedural solutions for clients.
Daniel is also active on the PTAB (Patent Trial and Appeal Board) Bar Association's communication and amicus committees, a regular contributor to the Firm's PTAB Litigation Blog, and a member of New York Intellectual Property Association. He is a former member of the Sam A. Crow Inn of Court.
