Claire Voegele focuses her practice on transactional tax matters and tax controversy. Clients benefit from Claire's years of government service and in-depth experience in assisting federal judges in bench trials and mediations of high-dollar, highly technical cases.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2023, Claire clerked on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. She drafted opinions and substantive orders in cases involving tax refund lawsuits, bid protests, contract disputes, Fifth Amendment takings claims, environmental and natural resources issues, federal and state securities fraud actions, and business tort claims.
As a law student, Claire was a Summer Fellow in the Veterans Legal Services Clinic at Yale Law School. Her article highlighting the administrative issues faced by Vietnam veterans with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) was published in the South Carolina Law Review.
