Cecelia Kye has focused on the fields of EU competition law and government regulation for more than 20 years. She has advised corporations in connection with merger control filings and government investigations in a broad range of sectors, including transportation, raw materials, and communications.
Cecelia has advised various major entities in merger cases at the EU level. Most recently, she assisted Wabtec in its acquisition of Faiveley in the railway sector. She also advised Nuvia Nordic and Coor Services Management Nuclear on a joint venture in the field of nuclear services, J.M. Huber in its acquisition by Omya in the raw materials sector, and British Telecom in its acquisition of Radianz. In the area of government investigations, Cecelia advised Dole in the European Commission proceedings in relation to banana and exotic fruit importers. She also has assisted in other cartel proceedings for a paper and forestry products manufacturer.
In the field of trade matters, Cecelia most recently advised the EU industry in a trade protection procedure in the field of raw materials/chemical derivatives.
Cecelia has authored numerous publications in the field of European competition law. She also served as a visiting lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain School of Law from 2008 to 2017, teaching a course on "Introduction to American Law." Prior to joining Jones Day in 2002, Cecelia practiced law in Brussels in the fields of merger control and government relations.
