In 2023, Greg Shumaker became the Managing Partner of Jones Day, only the eighth Managing Partner in the Firm's 130-year history. In his 35 years at Jones Day, Greg has helped lead some of the Firm's highest profile engagements, including serving as one of the lead trial lawyers for both the City of Detroit and Chrysler Corporation in their historic bankruptcy proceedings. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation particularly in U.S. bankruptcy courts as well as criminal, regulatory, and congressional investigations involving allegations of fraud and violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and False Claims Act.
Greg has served in various leadership positions at the Firm. From 2015 to 2022, Greg oversaw the Firm's expansive Global Disputes Practice comprising more than 200 lawyers around the world who handle international arbitrations, non-U.S. litigation, and cross-border investigations for the Firm's clients. Prior to that, Greg served as Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Washington Office for four years.
He has been a member of the board of directors of the Notre Dame Law Association since 2002 and served as its president from 2008 to 2009. He is also a member of Notre Dame's Law School Advisory Council and has been an instructor at the law school's Interim Trial Advocacy Program.
