John Lin has more than 20 years experience advising on public, private, and cross-border M&A transactions with an aggregate value in excess of US$20 billion. His work includes representation of public and private clients, investment banks, and institutional investors in mergers, management and leveraged buyouts, share swaps, spin-offs, joint ventures, going private transactions, corporate restructuring, private equity, health care, and technology transactions.
Representative transactions include: Micron Technology's acquisition of Inotera (US$6 billion), Hermes Microvision's sale to ASML (US$3.1 billion), MediaTek's acquisition of MStar Semiconductor (US$3.8 billion), Diodes' acquisition of Lite-On Semiconductor (US$440 million), SpringSoft's merger with Synopsys, Capella Micro's merger with Vishay, Micron Technology's sponsorship of Elpida Memory reorganization and acquisition of Rexchip, and Fresenius Medical Care's renal care joint venture with Excelsior Group.
John was recognized as one of Taiwan's top 100 lawyers by Asia Business Law Journal in 2019, 2022, and 2023. Ranked by Chambers Asia-Pacific as a leading lawyer in the corporate/M&A practice, John is described as having "a real can-do approach to his practice and deep local and US corporate expertise" and is praised for being "an excellent communicator and very creative."
John is a barrister member (non-practising) of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He lectured for nine years at the Chinese Culture University on Anglo-American contracts law and cross-border disputes resolution.
