John Vogt is one of the top cybersecurity lawyers in America. He has been recognized as a cybersecurity Trailblazer by The National Law Journal, is a Law360 MVP in cybersecurity and, for years, the LA Daily Journal has recognized John as one of the top cybersecurity lawyers in California.

In his 25 years of practice, John has defended hundreds of class actions in courts across the country and is one of the few lawyers that has tried a certified class action. His experience covers every aspect of cybersecurity and privacy. He has led the defense of class actions arising from some of the largest and most sophisticated cyber attacks in the United States; he defends clients in mass arbitration; he regularly litigates claims under state and federal wiretap laws involving the use of chat bots, session-replay technology, pixels, and web beacons; he defends class claims under nearly every state and federal privacy and consumer protection statute, including the Stored Communications Act, the Wiretap Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. His experience includes class claims involving dark patterns, biometric and genetic information, negative option advertising, auto-billing, and nonconsensual recordings.

John represents clients investigated by state attorney general and federal regulators arising out of cyber incidents. He also advises clients on their data privacy obligations.

John has tried cases to defense verdict, has argued appeals before federal and state courts, and has led trial teams in domestic and international arbitration.

Reynolds originally obtained dismissal of the case under Rule 12.
