Rita Yoon has a proven track record successfully defending the largest tech companies in the world in trial after trial, defeating billions of dollars in damages and injunctions. She focuses her practice on high-stakes IP, patent, and trade secret litigation and International Trade Commission (ITC) investigations. She has represented some of the largest tech and financial institutions in the world, including in the fintech, blockchain, banking, financial services, internet, software, smartphone, semiconductor, wireless communications, streaming media, automotive, and biotech industries. A trusted counselor for clients, Rita is known for her powerful legal strategies concerning emerging technologies, standard essential patents (SEPs), and fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms.
Rita also has significant experience litigating software patents — having represented amicus curiae in the game-changing Supreme Court case, Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank Int'l, 134 S. Ct. 2347 (2014). She is active in all phases of litigation from pre-lawsuit investigations through jury trial and appeal to the Federal Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
In addition to litigation, Rita counsels clients on patent monetization strategies and enforcement, including blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. Rita also was selected as a secondee attorney to one of the world's largest semiconductor companies.
