Robert Levent Hergüner leverages his strong computer science and engineering background to represent clients in a wide range of intellectual property matters involving cutting-edge technologies. With a primary focus in patent litigation and technology transactions, Levent has experience in a broad range of industries including computer software, databases, fintech, wireless communications, automotive, semiconductors, oscilloscopes, and LEDs.

Levent's work on patent enforcement actions involves drafting written discovery, invalidity contentions, infringement claims, and numerous filings before United States District Courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC), in addition to assisting in the drafting of detailed expert reports. Levent also counsels clients in complex transactions involving IP and open-source software, in which he analyzes license agreements, evaluates patent portfolios, and drafts agreements in the context of corporate acquisitions.

Levent has experience with cybersecurity and data privacy matters and has drafted data privacy agreements, assisted with incident response, and researched compliance with global data protection regulations. Levent is a regular contributor to Jones Day's ITC Blog and PTAB Litigation Blog. Prior to joining Jones Day, Levent completed internships at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Trade Commission.
